Default Curt Trailer/Tow hitch + Bent receiver hitch

Does anybody have any experience with this receiver hitch? I am looking at it as a replacement for the built in one. Some time ago the truck was rear ended with a trailer attached, the result was a bent frame, such that when I am towing things now there is a significant slope on the ball hitch.

Any other solutions are on the table as well, is the receiver hitch replaceable in any way?

I had one on my Montero Sport. I wasn't a fan, really. The design is not very detailed and in my case it deflected the rear bumper and due to mechanical interference made an awful squeaking sound over even the mildest of bumps.

I have a Curt on my LR3. It came with the vehicle. Other than it cutting down the departure angle I have had no issue. I don't really tow, but I do use it for a bike rack. The rear parking sensors function as intended with nothing in the hitch.
