Do I need Gap tool for tranny fluid/filter change?
Hi all! Recently purchased a 2006 LR3 SE with 128k miles. First Land Rover , but have been lurking the forums for a while before pulling the trigger. So i have a list of maintenance I want to check off including trans fluid/filter change. Going to purchase from Atlantic British with the seperate filter setup. Read on here somewhere that a reprogramming was adviseable afterwards?
anyone have any info on that?
Thanks in advance,
Dave Manchester

I don't think the Gap tool can update the latest software from Land Rover. When I had mine into the dealer to get the software updated, they did the whole system for under $150. Took about an hour to install all the updates for the two CANbus and the LINbus systems.
Reprogramming? I think you might be mixing that up with adaptation reset. Yes, you can use the GAP tool to reset adaptations, and then follow the correct procedure (accelerating, coasting without braking, etc). Most sources say you should do this with a fluid change.
Thanks for the reply !
I didn't do anything after I serviced my trans fluid two weekends ago (just followed AB tutorial step by step). Just went for a nice 250 mile road trip and it shifts nice and smooth.
Let me know if you have any other questions regarding this service.

Tony,
Thanks for the input! I read through your post on your. lR3. I am looking to do most of the service that you have done to yours. I will let you know how the service goes.
