Default Do LR4 Air Shocks fit LR3?

Hi guys, I have a 2005 LR3 and I wonder do 2010-2013 LR4 air shocks fit LR3? I know they have different part numbers, but can't really see the difference other than the manufacture. I do have the updated AMK air compressor on my LR3.

Reason I'm asking is I can source 3-4 year-old LR4 shocks pretty cheap, rather than buying new LR3 shocks.

Any input is appreciated!

Default different spring rates re the shocks

Yes, there is something internally different between the 3 and 4 air springs - something to do with the valving of the shock units.

I recall discussions on the Australian boards regarding how bad the ride was on rough roads re the "new" 4 relative to the 3, when the 4 was introduced.

For awhile, Blokes were installing the 3s air springs on the 4 in an attempt to get back rough trail performance.

I guess if there was enough of a price differential and you were doing the change yourself, then try it. I suggest you also order new bolts and nuts where the units attach to the lower A frames.

That way the install and perhaps removal will be easier. The old bolts can tear the rubber inserts of the replacement units, plus the odds are you will have to cut at least one of the bolts off anyway.

Thanks bbyer for the info. Yea I don't think chaning them myself would be a problem. But after reading what you said I might just stick with LR3 ones.
