Default Lr4 rear locking Differential

Does anyone know if a rear locking differential from a lr4 will fit in a lr3. I know the bearing kits are the same, a local rover salvage yard said that they are interchangeable but I don't think they are.

I don't have any idea, but seeing how it's not manually engaged, I'd wonder if your ECU would even know it was there... I've read elsewhere that you can't add a factory rear locker later, that it is only available from the factory. Not sure if that's true or not...

different part numbers, but could be a superseded number scenario, although the LR3 diff is over $1K more, so probably not.

Weird, wonder why the LR3 is $1k more?

You would think if it wasn't interchangeable, the plug or harness might be different. Maybe start there?

Pretty sure that they are not interchangeable. I believe that they have different axle ratios. I believe the LR3 is 3.73 while LR4 is 3.54. Be careful with RRS carriers too, the supercharged vs. non aspirated are also different ratios.
