Default Drive Cycle to clear incomplete OBDii monitors

My na LR3 is overdue for State Inspection (it's been in drydock for repairs). After a hard reset, some of the OBDII monitors are incomplete (EGR, EVAP, etc). Does anyone know the proper drive cycle to quickly complete the monitors? I've searched all over.

I found one that was supposedly from an LR service manual with several acceleration runs at various throttle openings and deceleration to almost a stop and a cool down. Didn’t work for me!
So, I ran a few errands (about 45 mins)around the house, including a short freeway run, and the SMOG computer was happy after that.

Thanks Geo! I drove around town like grandma then went out on the backroads for some 5 mile 55mph runs (sounds about right). All monitors are now in ready status except Evap. I've done this six times now and Evap ain't happenin'.

Ironic, ain't it, having to drive around illegally so I can get legal. Without knowing the correct procedure, it looks like I'll have to wait 'till at least next week to get inspected.

I recall that in CA, Evap doesn’t need to be ready. Was it the test station that said it wasn’t ready and therefore couldn’t be tested?

I tried to find something to support the Evap ready not required, but Google failed me!

Update: here it is (I know CA only, but we’re usually the worst!) slide 3

Good luck

Good tip Geo! I checked that with NYS DMV... their website says EPA allows one monitor "not ready". I'll bring a copy of that statement when I get inspected in case I get any flak. My OBDii reader indicated the "not ready" status, not the test station.

I think the problem is that there aren't many straight and level 5 mile stretches here in the Adirondacks. Hills and curves slosh the fuel around. The Evap monitor needs to be driven at constant highway speeds without slosh to enter Ready Status, and there aren't many good places to coast to a stop.

Unfortunately, it will have to wait till next week. The metal tranny pan I installed 2 weeks ago started leaking after last night's run. I retorqued the bolts again today, will check for leaks tomorrow.

Are you sure it's the pan gasket leaking? The mechatronic pass through bulkhead is a well known issue for trans leaks. Also, Ford has a very nice aluminum gasket for their version of the 6HP26 with sealant (silicone or similar) attached to both sides. No messing with liquid sealants and I found is reusable. The one I purchased was for a 2005 Navigator.

Thanks 5280... a leaky Mech Sleeve was the reason I did the swap. It looks good. I've read the metal pans can have a tendency to leak, and some of the pan bolts definitely needed retorquing. The paper gasket that came with the pan looked like it had been on the shelf for a while. It was faded on one end and might be bad. Your improved Ford gasket is intriguing. I think AB's pan is BMW but the ford gasket should work if I can find it.
