DSC Activating When Unwanted
10-4 Dakota. Glad someone knows what I am talking about. I will give what you say a shot. And you’re right, at face value, it does seem counter intuitive and it is also hard to not want to give more throttle.
I will add that feel engine/trans temps come into play also. If you are running hot it seemed to me like it wanted to kick in more to prevent overheating. Also I forgot to mentioned, I hate DSC.
What are you using to monitor your trans temp?
Okay, thanks for clarifying. I have not had an issue with engine power cutting out with the DSC deactivated. I also tend to choose one gear (usually 2nd) for long, steep hill climbs though, applying ample and steady throttle throughout. Not sure this matters but my '05 has the locker and TC almost never activates, so I'd presume DSC would also be less active. My '06 relies a lot more on TC.

GAP tool at times. But really it was just knowing I was hammering it at times and seemed like when things were cooking a bit it came up a lot more. So I could be wrong, not sure. Just seemed like it.

I meant to say with DSC deactivated....but I think you got the idea. Very hard to say what is causing your experience. I don't think I've had the engine-cutting happen to me since maybe 2007 before I got more diligent about inhibiting DSC. Since then it's never happened that I can remember.
....they sell a newer "Defender" with coils and a rear locker? I thought for sure you'd need EAS for that. Hmmm....kinda cool. I wish the D90 had a more squared off front end and a frame (so that it had enough rigidity for a topless option) and I'd be more interested. As it were they seem more suited for the Kardashians.
