DVD/NAV problems
Has anyone out there had a problem similar tomine?
Please read below!
I purchased my American Spec 2006 LR3 here in Germany through the military sales program.
I am having issues with the DVD NAV system.
Let me explain:
I drove it with the European driving disc for over one year here in Germany. No issues
In 2007, I shipped the vehicle to the USA and the dealer installed my USA driving disc with no issues.
I continued to drive my vehicle there for four years and had no DVD NAV issues.
Once again, I am stationed in Germany and have shipped my vehicle back.
I re-installed my European driving disc and started to have some NAV issues. Nothing serious at first just a little slow and no voice en route computer navigation.
I took my vehicle to the dealer here in Kasierslautern, and he tried to install a “master navigation disc”.
This is when the real problem started. See the attached picture at bottom of thread. My DVD NAV seems to be locked up and looking for something.
I have tried the following:
Re-install the USA disc.
Re-install the European disc.
Unplug the unit (under the seat) from the power supply.
Disconnect the battery for more than 24 hours.
Nothing seems to work.
I did notice the following in conjunction with my NAV issue:
1. When I start my vehicle, the HDC system fault light comes on and then goes out, no other associated lights. No warnings.
2. The voice recognition system is completely off-line and the button on the lower left steering wheel does not seem to work in activating it.
All other function seem to work. The 4 X 4 monitoring system and other related menu options still seem to function.
I have read several articles on LR3 forums that talk about low battery power causes HDC fault system and other NAV problems. Could mine be similar?
Any suggestions, besides changing the battery? I was just hoping that someone has either seen or heard of this issue before and that you could point me in the right direction. The battery is almost 200 EURO and a little expensive for a shot in the dark.
I have already been to one LR service center and they told me to replace the NAV unit at a cost of 2,200 EURO with no guarantee that it would fix the problem. I am going to take this to another dealer outside the local area, as it seems this dealer lacked experience in the LR brand.
Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated!

its possible however unlikely the master disc they used could have faulty or a german one. But the bootloader disc that is used for them should have worked.
although most likely the issue is with the telephone module but it looks like he made things worse.
They could have programmed the wrong info as well.
and yes you have a battery problem. Just look around and online for a battery that is 700 CCA

Found and replaced battery. No more HDC Fault issues but the NAV system still seems to be stuck on the same page as before.
Tried to re-install obth USA and Europe disc, no joy.
The voice control button still will not work (left steering column) and the phone buttons work on the right side for the bluetooth.
My Iphone is working through the blue tooth better than any other phone I have had and has no issues connecting automatically when I get in the vehicle.
I will make appt with the servcie center to get the system "re-booted".
Thanks for the help.

I got bad news. I just reviewed the HDLF bootlegger bulletin and if the screen did not say Specifically,
HDLF bootlegger error then using that disc ****ed the system up.
a reprgm of the nav unit with SDD would not have done that as the system would have seen the differences.
Its entirely possible that they ruined the nav unit when it was not needed in the first place. The only thing needed was diagnosing the voice command which is stored in the telephone system itself.

Do you have access to a computer, or does the dealer do your reprogramming?

My dealer does all of my programming. I have been reading this forum and someone mentioned something called a "brown disk" that can reprogram the DVD NAV unit under the seat. Not sure of the truth to that one, but I am willing to try anything to get my DVD NAV back. It gets little broing watching my 4 x 4 info when I am never driving it in that mode!
My I will try to play a movie in it for the front passenger!!

Swapping the nav ecu with a know good one would be a good place to start.
at least you'll know if the problem lies in the ecu or not. Do you know anyone that
has an LR3. It's less than 10 bolts to remove the donor. You can unplug yours
and plug the donor in without removing your seat.
