Default EAS Fault

Have had an odd occurrence for the last week or so. After driving the truck for around 20 minutes, the orange suspension light comes on. (The one in the instrument cluster). Truck continues to drive as normal. Shutting the truck off and starting again will clear the light and it won't come on again until at least 20 minutes of driving. I realize it could be a myriad of causes and am going to do a top off change on my year old battery just to eliminate the voltage gremlin. Getting bi annual inspection done in a week so will get any stored codes to try and help diagnose.

Any other suggestions what to check? Compressor runs fine, air tank replaced, suspension doesn't drop overnight. The fact that it takes so long to activate after driving is whats baffling me... thanx y'all for your suggestions.

Obviously reading the codes is the only true way to tell.

i suspect your exhaust valve(if you have a Hitachi Comp).

start vehicle, put to off road height, then lower. If when it tries to lower you get an obstruction message or a fault right away, it’s the exhaust valve.

I agree about the codes.... will get them later this week.

Have the AMK and I lower the truck at beginning of every ride to access height to allow my wife to enter. If I go for less than a 20 minute trip, it doesn't appear. Highway vs in town speed doesn't seem to affect it either.

Well, the two codes the shop pulled were U0421-Invalid data received from ride level control module. Also U0132-Lost communication from RCM.

As I stated above, this only occurs after driving for at least 20 minutes and has no other effect than the EAS amber light coming on.

I don't recognize those codes...even the syntax. Usually an EAS code is a CA blah blah blah I think. Could be a result of the code reader, maybe?

You have the AMK, when was the last time you had a software update? I was getting random "communication error" faults as well and discovered a recent software patch was available, got it uploaded, no faults since. That was over a year ago.

Those were the codes my shop gave me from their reader.

I got the update done two years a go but may have to consider it. The weird thing is it affects nothing and happens at the same amount of time from start up, around the 20 minute mark.

I’m wondering if maybe there are more codes that might be present intermittently that would help with the diagnosis.

I know you have heard it before, but the GAP tool could really help right now.

A- you could monitor the faults and make sure that lost comms is the only thing reoccurring

B- if no other codes, you could update your RLM to see if it fixes the issue

Will consider the GAP tool as funds permit... in the mean time, I'll just keep praying it is just a temporary lost comm issue and carry on.
