Exclamation Electrical issue

When I start the car the door locks lock and unlock and lock and unlock. They keep clicking open and shut. Then the car won't start. Wait a few minutes and the car starts. The door locks may start clicking or when you start to drive they will start clicking. Also some of the gauges will shut down. Any suggestions?

Do your flashers also come on and your radio says system shutdown?

Sounds like a weak battery.

The radio does shut down. When it comes back on only the volume control on the steering wheel works. The battery is good.

Do you have the ability to pull codes?

Default Wiring Issue?

Sound like you have a CAN BUS issue. It may be a bad Instrument cluster or Central Junction box (which houses the body control module) but most likely it is a wiring or connector issue.

Can you read the codes and see which ECU's show up and which ones have error codes? Most of the time it is a worn/eaten insulation issue on one (or both) of the CAN BUS circuits.

Hope this helps
Jeff

I found an old post from 2022 with a similar sounding problem. They determined it was the Vehicle Immobilizer Control. Going to look into this. Thanks for your input. I will post if that corrects the problem.

Good luck, I'm going thru very similar issues with my LR3 going into "Crash Mode" where radio says system shutdown, Climate control stops, flashers come on, and doors unlocks. Happens random times, sometimes won't start. Never dies once started. Real fun limping it from Fort Carson to North Georgia with all the fun going on.

Once you scan for codes, post what you get and we will try to help out from there

Default It may be CAN BUS wires

Yes, my immobilizer issue pointed to no communication between the engine ECU and the immobilizer (which is inside the CJB). Codes indicated that no module past the TPMS showed up on the CAN BUS. That means the parking aid module and the CJB were off line. When the CJB is off line, it does not send a signal to the engine ECU saying the immobilizer if off (thus allowing the engine to start). After removing a lot of interior panels to trace wires, we found some chewed up wires behind the left C pillar trim near the floor. Fixed the issue and it now starts as it should.

IF the body control module (CJB) is bad, you cannot reprogram a used one. New ones are stupid expensive IF you can even get one. Best bet would be to get a used one of the same part number and have it cloned.

Hope this helps
Jeff
