New to me 2005 HSE 4.4V8 - the top engine cover is only held on by the oil filler cap, and I've never seen what the 4 fasteners look like or what is supposed to be there, all of mine are missing. Are they a bolt? Wing nut? Something else? Thanks for any pics or part suggestions.

 

Some sort of screw that zips into clips on top of the intake. Are your clips there? You may be able to find something that threads into them and reverse engineer. I think I have about half of mine.

My beef is with the plastic covers that go on top of the valve covers. Can those be made to stay put? Or do they actually provide any benefit?

The part is LZM500020. They turn about one round or so.
