Default extended warranty

I went to the land rover dealer today for maintnance of my 2005 lr3, my warranty expires in january 2009 and they offered me an extended warranty for 3 years for $3,806 with a $200.00 deductible. Is this a good deal or should I continue shopping for a independent provider. Can anybody help me, because this is peace of mind to me.

I found a place that saved me a bunch of money from Ford, but the LR3 has to be under 36 months an under 36k miles. I'm assuming that counts yours out?

Hulk,
How have the repairs been since you have owned it? If OK, then I would set some money aside for a later repair and not buy another policy.

Default extended warranty/ Maintenence

I have to take my 2005LR3 in every 7500 miles otherwise my extended warranty will expire. However every time I go, I get hit for $500-$700 in expenses, nothing major but wipers tire rotations you name it like$150.00for anoil change $8.00 for windshield washer fluid Stuff that's really small. I was wondering if anyone new if I could take it to a Pep boy's Car-ex or Midas for that 7500 mile check up and can the reset the computer as well showing that the routine maintenence was done. I say no to things like $85.00 for an air filter and stuff but it happens everytime I go. I did say yes to an $185.00powersteering flush. But I feel I could have done that anywhere else for less. But I felt trapped for that kind of maintenance. I'llprobably have to dish out for a differential flush in the futureor a radiator flush soAny help or Ideas before I go would really help my budget. Thanks

I change my own wipers, I take it to Firestone for tire rotations and balance and I'm still under warranty. WHen the warranty runs out, I will weigh the cost of maintenance with competitive shops before I decide to have the dealer do any work. I did have the dealer replace my brake pads and sensors all around recently but only afte calling Midas and getting a quote from them for abou $300 more than the dealer. HAd it been the other way around, Midas would have done the work. Just shop and compare for regular maintenance stuff.

When I went to the dealer to pick up the truck and drove away, at the very first stop sign my brake pedal went to the floor. So I turned her around and back in we went. Found out it needed to be bled again, properly this time. So you see, the dealer doesn't get it right the first time all the time, just because they are the dealer.

The truck hasn't had any major repairs besides the land rover recalls and general maintenance, it's been very reliable and a pleasure to drive.
