Default Failed Compressor Rebuild

Well, I ordered the XR8 repair kit from England and when it came I proceeded to begin the removal of the old compressor. Immediately I noticed that the plastic cover was fastened differently than the videos I had seen and imagine my surprise when the cover came off and I had the updated AMK compressor in place...

Kind of a dichotomy, in that I was happy to see I had the better unit but was disappointed I didn't get the rebuild the compressor for longevity.

Now the process of returning the kit begins.... hopefully it will go smooth and I'll only lose out on return shipping. Thankfully, I didn't order it from the States, so I won't lose the customs and duty charges.

Did you get like the 50.00 rebuild kit with the new silica or the 80.00 kit with the new end cap for the dryer? I've been looking into that kit myself just to have in my tool kit. I can't get it this week from ya, but next paycheck I should be good to go. (still dealing with selling my H3, and paying for the new to me LR3). Just message me if you'd like.

Thanx for the offer Best but I'm into it for $110 US and will recoup that minus a small postal fee if I ship it back to England.

...it was the complete kit.

Btw, does anyone know if the AMK is rebuildable?

Thankfully you didn't order it from the states so you wont lose custom or duty charges? That is confusing.

FWIW, we rep X8R, and I sell the full kit for $58/delivered. That includes the drier kit and the rebuild for the compressor/piston. For $90, I include a brand new aluminum cap.

Forgive me, but i checked the website and looked under Air Compressor Overhaul Kit and nothing is listed. Eric, am I looking in the wrong spot? I am occasionally getting the suspension error that seems to be the harbinger of compressor death. I wanted to check out one of these rebuild kits to see if I have the technical skills to pull off a rebuild.

When we order from the States to Canada, there is usually customs charges when it hits the border... and then our provincial sale tax. When you factor in exchange of .20-.25 cents on the dollar, that $90 kit will cost me nearly $200.
