OK ,here is fun one. 2005 LR3 approx 150 miles. No codes showing on my GAP regarding parking or parking brake but....occasionally I'm getting a flashing red parking symbol on my dash right after I turn the truck off. It seems to flash for approx 1 minute then stops. Also, it's not consistent. It seems to do it maybe every 5th time I turn the truck off. Any ideas?

Side note, I never use my parking brake.

Did you edit the CFF to auto-engage the parking brake?

When was the last time it was serviced? The parking brakes require regular service as the system is always active using a cable tension monitor. If the system is not serviced, it can fault. You may be in the pre-fault area of things.

 

Thanks for the response. Parking brake is not set to "auto". I've had my truck for 6 months now and I never use the parking brake. It's been activated maybe 1/2 a dozen times. The light came on last night when I got home flashed red for about 1 minute after shut off then went away. I'll check my GAP again when I'm home from work today.

 

Yeah, codes auto-clear depending on severity. You may need to pull codes right when its flashing. But like I said, it could be just a warning right now that something is not right and not really generating a code. The parking brake system has several international standards/rules the design must follow with indicator lights. Example, if the main fuse is pulled for the parking brakes, the brake pad wear light then illuminates as a backup to the parking brake system.
