Default Fluid intervals

I don't know that we've ever done an official thread on this. What are everyone's change intervals on basic fluids? I'll go first:

Engine Oil: 3750 miles (I just cut the suggested 7500 in half) on my 2006.
Once a year on my 2005, which is about 1500 miles.
Transmission: I've only done it once at ~100k on my 2005. It's at 132k now.
Previous owner did it at 143k on my 2006. It's at 222k now.
Differentials: Once every 3 years on my 2005 (about 4500 miles).
Did this after buying the 2006 with 182k on it. 40k later I should probably do so again.
Coolant: As needed, generally concurrent with a new thermostat.
Power Steering: As needed and per inspection
Brake Fluid: Concurrent with new brakes being installed

I don't put much faith in what the books say, considering what it suggested for tranny and diffs originally. I'm curious what you folks think and do, though.

Cheers,
Houm

For a used car, replace everything as quickly as possible when you get it. Even if things were recently done you’ll get the benefit of flushing extra junk out and verifying it’s done to your satisfaction.

Engine oil: Synthetic, every 6 months, which is 3-5,000 miles in each of my vehicles. This is half of what most manufacturers say their synthetic is good for, but it’s where I am comfortable.

Transmission: ZF says every 40k starting around 60-80k for the 6HP26X; I know mine had it done at 80k. I’m getting ready to go again at 121k with a new filter.

Coolant: Every 10 years or 100-120k, basically when you replace the water pump and hoses

Brake fluid: Safe answer is 3-4 years, but really depends on driving style. I’ve had other vehicles where it looked new after 10 years, if the lines and seals stay tight and the brakes never overheat, it will last a long time.

Diffs: Probably depends on driving style. I know some guys that wheel hard do every 10k, but a mall crawler with open diffs could be fine for 200k. Rear locking diff shouldn’t be more than 40k, open diff can be longer.

Transfer Case: Every 40k at most, especially electronic locking diffs like ours which are basically an automatic transmission.

Well we made it! Hit a couple of trails along the way. The altitude triggered a rich code on both banks, but they cleared and didn't return. The coolant reservoir float sunk with a false "Low Coolant" warning. A new reservoir is on the list for next summer. All-in-all it was a good trip!
