Default Front inner parking sensor?

Has anybody replaced a front inner parking sensor before? I'll admit that I'm kind of lazy and haven't called to see how much it will cost to paint, but I'm assuming some stupid amount.

From the pictures I see online, it looks like the sensors have a clamshell design and that you may be able to pry them apart. Just wondering if anybody has ever done this? I was hoping that I might be able to order a new sensor, then pry both sensors apart and just reuse the front painted piece on the old sensor with the back (electronics) piece of the new sensor? Am I being too optimistic here?

The good guys at Tactical Rovers covered this a bit in their front bumper install video. Check it out:

Were you able to figure this out? I have a front inner sensor out and don't really want one mismatched black sensor. The video above goes into how to remove them, but they just spray painted them black since the bumper they are installing is black.
