Crankshaft position sensor

Crankshaft position sensor
Well unlike all the other post I must have little arms and hands, although I am 6' tall and don't think I have girlie arms. All the same I had no problem getting to the sensor and I didn't even have to raise the vehicle.
Now I'm just stumped and don't want to screw things up and need a little help.
My new sensor has the silver casing and the one I removed did not have the casing. Do I remove the casing? It doesn't fit with the casing but my biggest concern is it needing the casing and I remove it then damaging something because it's not there.
I think I'll be fine but just need a little reassurance.

Im not entirly sure what you mean here but the CPS shown in the picture above looks right to me. Its been over a year since I replaced mine but Im pretty sure it looked exactly like the one in your pic. As far as I can remember the plastic electrical end of the sensor just plugs directly into the harness and the silver metal end screws into its designated position, then you refit the cover over that silver end of the sensor. Note that the cover is not shown in pic above. Good luck.

you are correct! Helps if you remove all of the other sensor before trying to input the new one.
So in regards to my sensor swap, I had no problems accessing it from underneath without having to drop my exhaust and I unplugged and re-plugged my sensor top side.
Pretty easy actually. Spent much more time researching it then getting it done.

The important thing here is that the probe must extend the same distance into the flywheel housing. It looks like the new sensor has already got the spacer built-in and is ready to fit in the auto box. You can check this by comparing the old one, including the spacer, against the new one, if they are the same length then it may be that you don't use the spacer on the new one.
