Seemingly unrelated question: there's an issue with the brake switch on these trucks, I've had a couple go out over the past 13 years of ownership. No big deal currently, I just keep an extra switch in the console. But when this happens, the suspension lowers. With a programmed lift, does anyone know if suspension would lower to the new access height, or to the bumpstops in cases where this brake switch goes bad? Just want to be prepared if the bigger tires rub w/more than a slight turn and a bad brake switch sends the truck to its bumpstops.
My brake switch recently went out. Suspension height did not change but it gave me a handful of transfer case and transmission faults. I believe it was also stuck in 1st gear. Quick change of switch and all was well again.

Default Hmmm...

That doesn't sound like the typical suite of faults due to brake switch failure. Did you read codes before and after?

No worries at all. Got everything installed. Happy camper over here. And the tires shouldn’t rub even if the brake switch fails.

Initially it was messages on the display, cannot recall exactly what they were but then I scanned and got a brake switch code in there so figured that was the culprit. Replaced and no codes came back. Also dissected the switch and saw evidence of arching/shorting.

Codes:Engine Petrol
  • P0504-64 (2A) Brake switch A/B correlation - Algorithm based failure - signal plausibility failure
  • P0504-29 (2A) Brake switch A/B correlation - General signal failure - signal is invalid
Instrument Pack
  • U0102-87 (28) Lost communication with transfer case control module - Bus signal/message failure - missing a message
  • U0132-87 (2E) Lost communication with ride level control module - Bus signal/message failure - missing a message
Transfer Case
  • U0132-86 (28) Lost communication with ride level control module - Bus signal/message failure - signal is invalid

Transmission
  • U0416-86 (2F) Invalid data received from vehicle dynamics control module - Bus signal/message failure - signal is invalid

Looks like the brake switch for sure was bad....those other symptoms are a little disconcerting as well.

When you say "brake switch" are you referencing the parking brake switch or the brake light switch?

Reading the response about "keeping and extra switch in the console" and how it lowers height I immediately thought I'd google it and educate myself on that since it must not be too hard if someone's carrying extras to swap out in a pinch. But when I google, the brake light switch is the only thing that comes up which seems weird to me that a brake light switch could cause such havoc - but then again, it is a rover lol.

Just curious if there's a light switch failure bug that I haven't heard of until now?

EDIT: nevermind, figured it out by digging a little deeper - still drinking my coffee ok? lol. Carry on!
