Hahahaha....snorkel and 22s!?!??! Holy crap. This owner....wow. I don't want to be a dick, but...mods from two completely opposed philosophies. This doesn't fill me with hope that he has taken good care of his Rover. Anyway, I digress.

Here is the deal: you are getting AWESOME advice right now. My suspicion is that this LR3 has a bad compressor. Usually sensor or calibration issues manifest themselves by funky looking ride heights and trucks on bumpstops. If the compressor is bad it's possible that the vehicle can sit just fine in normal height with an amber fault light and everything can seem fine until you try to raise the vehicle. That's precisely why I asked you the questions above. Maybe people drive them with the suspension fault light on, but I'm going to be blunt....the world is full of stupid people.

I went through all of this last year. The outputs you are getting are not discouraging, they are informative. No one is saying "run away" but rather you are being encouraged to do more homework. Find out what's wrong with the EAS. Dive it and see if it needs new control arms. Listen for diff whine because that can be a $3000 ordeal.

Be smart, be informed, and make a purchase with your eyes wide open.

Well, as you make that decision be sure to try and raise it to off-road height and see what the compressor does. Also drive it over 60 MPH for a stretch and see that you don't get put down to bump stops. Idle along in a parking lot and then SNAP the brakes and listen for a "clunk" sound....that would be your control arm bushings. On the freeway, listen for a groaning sound that is exacerbated with throttle; that's a differential. Make sure the parking brake works and the rear hatch mechanism. Heck, feel the passenger side carpets near the door and make sure they aren't damp.

All those things check out it's probably a decent vehicle....

I'd buy it if the engine and transmission checks out, get rid of the 22's, fix the suspension issue.. Even of it needs a compressor i'd still come out ahead.

If however you can't turn a wrench then you shouldn't be looking at LR3's in general. Not because they are unreliable but because they need expensive maintenance.

Man you are right on...I ended up buying the vehicle after checking almost everything you listed...I wish I read your post before I bought...as sure enough carpets on both sides by the doors are soaking wet! I checked/cleaned the A/C drains and sunroof drains ...hopefully that resolved it.
Car rides very well the Susp. amber light still comes on so far I checked battery (good) and disconnected for a few mins. to reset ..still comes on after a few seconds

I assume the green lite means good and power needs to be on, if the carpets are wet first thing u need to do is pull them up and force all water out of carpet and insulation , sop it up and leave the carpets up till 100% dry

Next check all connections in pass side rocker with blue tape a lite tug, if they seperate repair

There is a fuse that blows if the noise box on right side of trans is bad, put in new fuse look for smoke at trans then fuse pop

You can't diagnose anything till floor and carpets dry and wireings dry, this vehicle is very sensitive

Yup....what Tom said. Dry out the carpet and underneath the carpet, check for corrosion on the wires/connections and clean any that you find.

So, how did the car check out on the items listed that you did in fact check? ...and the 500 pound elephant in the room that you haven't mentioned: can you raise and lower the EAS with the switch?...or not?

LOL I havent tried raising nor lowering cause I dont want to kill the compressor if thats the issue..Im going to take the car to a Land Rover friendly shop to read the computer and hopefully find out whats wrong with susp...I can hear the compressor kicking in and if its weak I'd like to rebuild instead of replace it.
Everything else looks and rides really good..its being raining non stop here in Va and the wet carpet is my main issue right now...not sure how long it has been that way...after shop vac most of it Im keeping towels under the carpet to absorb every bit left.....havent found any rust nor corrosion so far. I wish dang rain would stop already!
BTW: where exactly is the compressor located? ..is it hard to access/service? Thanks
