Oh the dilemma... I have been waiting for one of my standard headlights go out, so I can upgrade to something better (I know the lifespan problems as I have them in the wife's car) just to see if, with better headlights, I could do without the fog lights. I like the illumination of the headlights combined with the fogs, but I know I would get a better approach angle if I removed the fogs, or changed the front bumper...but I always drive at night with both headlights and fogs, and I really don't want to lose the illumination of the fogs.

Default 2013 LR4 Headlight Bulbs

I have this same problem now on my 2013 LR4. The OEM's lasted only 2.5 years. I say only because I haven't had to change headlamps in any other vehicle. So, after the 2.5 year period I replaced both headlamp bulbs because they were both out. Since then I replaced the left bulb after 2 months and the right bulb after 3 months. Now again the left bulb is out after 4 months. I've had the truck since new for 3 years. I use Sylvania bulbs from an auto parts store neaby. I don't touch them.

Any clues about what's causing this bulb failure?

What is the technology of these headlamps? I thought the LR4 used LED or Xenon, neither of which should fail so soon...do some LR4s have Halogens?

I believe the lowest option was the halogens with the upgrade being the xenon on low beam for the LR3 and the low and high beam being xenon on the LR4.

This keeps happening. It can't just be the quality of the bulbs. Let me throw in another variable. I had one working light. One week after I replaced the burnt out bulb, the opposite side burned out. That means, the electrical system does not want or cannot handle the electrical load of 2 bulbs being powered simultaneously. Does Land Rover know about this? No TSB's????
