Heavy Duty Package
Mr. Krisztian: I concur on the Zeon LTZ's with 18" wheels. I love mine, the Rover is more stable, looks awesome, quiet, and performs like a champ on and off road. Get it. Its what a Rover should come withstandard in my opinion. None of this low profile tire,22" wheel nonsense.
This is an off road vehicle, not a Mercedes.

Ouch,
Hey now, dont judge everyone that rides on 22's. I like how classy my LR3 looks and rides with the black 22 inch Asanti wheels with Toyo 285/35/22's on pavement, and I get tons of compliments even from the local dealer. It just looks badasss when I park and drop the air suspension to the entry level on these wheels when parked.
Then when its time for some weekend off road fun or driving during the winter months, I have the 285/60/18 Cooper Zeon LTZ's on the factory LR3 wheels for that task. (Local dealer loves these tires) This size of tire should have been factory installed instead of the almost-accident-causing Goodyears it came with. They just fill the wheel wells right and look more proportioned to the body and shape of the truck. Not to mention that the Cooper LTZ's are the one of the most quiet tires I have ever had on any vehicle. A must upgrade for any LR3 owner.
Put it this way, I have some sharp black leather dress shoes for nice events and taking wifey out to dinner, and some hard core mountain climbing boots that I can climb damn near anything that mother nature throws at me and pull my buddies vehicles out when stuck.
I have a tire combo that fits my lifestyle and is almost as versatile as the LR3 itself............................

You wouldn't seriously try to have the rear diff installed now, as it would be very cost prohibitive! At $650, it was a steal from the factory, but I am guessing it would be over $2000 to try to replace the rear diff with a HD rear diff package.
Thanks to this thread I've confirmed my pre-owned '09 HSE (newly purchased last week) has the HD package...I'm more and more pleased everyday with my selection!
EDIT: Maybe I missed this, but are all HSEs just a Heavy-Duty SE? So my confirmation was expected?

I'm happy to have the Heavy Duty package. It is well worth it. Of course, sales people will sell you what makes them the fastest buck. Insist on it.
The locking differential system has three major components;
1. Locking e-Diff - I know of an e-diff ready that will replace the open diff, but you still need;
2. ECU - locking diff controller
3. Wiring harness.
There is a fellow on the site that has done a conversion. I've been working on a conversion kit based loosely on that, but progress has been fairly slow. So, no joy yet. See my gallery for some differential pictures.
