Default Height setting with new IIDTOOLBT

Hello all,
so my question is this. I have a 2008 LR3 HSE. I run stock tire size (30” diameter). Now when I do a club run I swap my tires for my off-road set of 32” diameter, I install 1.5” Johnson rods to prevent / minimize full lock turn inner fender rub. Once back in the city I swap the tires for my stock size (30” diameter) and I remove the 1.5” Johnson rods and re-install the original height rods.

Now that I have the IIDTool. The question becomes from when I install the off road tires on and off again. So…
Do I keep the stock height rods on the vehicle always, and then when I swap the tires to my off road set do I merely make a custom height preset of 30mm ( We’ll name that custom setting “Off-road tire set”) and then once back in the city, tires swapped back to regular stock diameter, 1.5” John rods replace back to stock rods, and go back to the default height setting.

Or, do I keep the 1.5” Johnson rods in always, make a custom height setting, in IIDTool height settings, 30mm lower for when I have the regular size tires on (we’ll name that custom setting “Regular road”) then when I install my off road tire set (32” diameter) and adjust the IIDTool height to “default” which would then be the stock vehicle height setting but with the 1.5 Johnson Rods.
Hope this is somewhat clear.
Thanks.

Do whatever you want, but personally I never liked rods. They can cause the sensors to go out of range and thus cause system faults, especially if the vehicle drops to stops - at that point the only way to get the system back up is to physically jack the truck up to get the sensors back in a readable range.

So both ways are doable, but having the stock rods in, I generally lessen the likelihood of pushing the sensor out of range.

And as a side note question. I recently had a height sensor replaced, but the vehicle wasn’t recalibrated, should I do this first before anything else? Sensor was replaced, but seems to be driving normally.

Remove the rods, pretty much void when using the GAP tool and never get your hands dirty again.

Well consensus shows that removing the rods is the most preferred. Thanks everyone for your input.

PS. For Sale
One set of lightly used 1.5” Johnson Rods. “Soar to new heights, as you drive in the command position, hovering over pesky Jeep people”.
I upped my LR3, now up yours!
