Default Help with choosing tires

Ok. I got a flat. And just found out I gotta replace all 4 tires since its awd
It has the goodyears on it. Those are too expensive.
I drive just city / hwy. 2 kids. Single. Money is tight.
no one in my area has this size. And limited on brands without ordering & I can't be without my ride for 3-5 days waiting on shipment to get in.

So as of now. My 2 choices. That they have in stock are

Cooper h/t plus 265/60/18

Or

Firestone destination le2. 265/60/18

I'm lookn at all 4. Installed. $648. & $756

Anybody know how good these tires are ? Which is better way to go ?

& by gng little bit bigger. How's it affect my mpg ? Or even the computer readings ?

Thanks

If you can find a matching brand to your other three and they are still good, you may want to get the one tire shaved...see this

Tire Tech Information - Matching Tires on Four-Wheel Drive and All-Wheel Drive Vehicles

May not be ideal but if money is tight and the other tires are pretty good, this should work out cheaper.

OK, I think the wranglers were the original fit tire so they were expensive and didn't wear very well. Guess you're right, probably time to replace with something better.

I have almost 50,000 miles on a set of Open Country tires from Les Schwab. I would, very much, recommend these tires. Drives very well on and off the tarmac. Not a hugely aggressive off-road tire, but the best of both worlds.

re: 2 kids. Single. Money is tight

LR3 maintenance schedule - so you can plan. Differentials need fluid replaced much more frequently (not at 150,000) - the $30 fluid fills, lubes, and cools a $2200 part. Early maintenance is important to keep Rover repair costs to a minimum.

When I was on a tight budget I would scour Craigslist for used tires or just pop in the few local used tire shops (plenty here in Chicago). Usually got a set with 90% tread and no damage mounted and balanced for under 400 then I'd drive over to Firestone to get them properly balanced because used tire shops usually use a cheap Snap-On balancer. I don't know how easy it would be to find rubber for the 3. As we all know the pickings are slim in regards to tires.
