Cool Help me help my mom ASAP

Long time Rover lover /owner here, though it's been awhile (driving and Audi now). So, I'm not up on all the Rover boards these days.

My recently single, cool outdoorsy mom drives an 07 LR3. 18" rims. House in colo checks in at 9k above sea level AND she's a skier. In other words, the chick likes snow.

Here's the deal - is there a tire anyone has come across that provides reliable, confidence inspiring performance on snow-packed roads, and is quiet enough for paved roads, year round usage etc?

She'd love to put one set of tires on and wear them out. This is my mom we're talking about, so I told her I'd get a solid rec.

I live in Tennessee now, going on 6 years. We don't change tires in the winter, so I'm relying on all "ya'll"

BTW, I say "ASAP" because the snow piles up pretty fast where she lives and at 9k above sea level, that stars about now . ..

nokian hakkapelittas are used by dealers and they are alot cheaper then OEM tires and last longer sometimes.
