I did the test to close off the Main air intake and the truck started right up. and went to idle. I did not want to cause any damage so I shut her down. Should I have left it running and ran around to the engine to see if I could hear a hiss? I dealer told me it it is the upper intake manifold gaskets then it will be about 4 to 5 hours of labor plus parts. Is that right? I don't mind getting other people to work on my truck but when they try to clean me out for all I am worth then I have a problem.

I think I will take the aftermarket MAF out and buy another one from LR. See if that does anything.

Dealer had to do an ECM update and a new oil filler cap. I could not do the ECM update but I can do everything.

Doesn't sound right of you truly plugged the intake and it ran. Maybe you shut it down too soon? Anyhow, is everything fixed? All codes cleared? Oil filler cap replacement is strange, but whatev

Without the oil cap it doesn't start at all its thats much air. Its possible the seal could be bad. hard to say. you can pull the upper intake yourself. You just need the proper tool to take off the fuel line. its a breeze after that. No real special tools.

It is on the dealer now. That is the only thing good out of letting them do it. If they f up then they have an argument on there hands. So far no check engine light so I am guessing no leak. Ran me just over $400 after cutting all the fat from their quote.
