Default Maximum Tire Size

Wonder what is the largest tire size that can be installed on the LR3 without a suspension mod. I am running BFG KO2's in 265/60/18 which is listed as a 30.5 inch tire. Dealership said there should be zero issues with this size. So far so good. Is anyone running a little larger tire with no issues on a stock suspension?

The “lift” with rods or IID tool, because it’s an artificial lift, doesn’t really affect what size tire you can run. Despite whatever lift you run, the wheel can still be stuffed up into the wheel well the same amount. This is when the rubbing occurs. I’ll admit that during normal daily driving, this type of lift will help, because you don’t experience much articulation, but if you take the truck off-road, it won’t matter.

But to your question, if you go any larger at all, you’ll start to rub the fender liners and can wear through them into wiring harnesses and A/C lines, so stuff has to be moved. I have a 275/65R18 and I think that’s the largest you can run without running into clearance issues on the control arms and/or frame.

And what does this have to do with side marker lights? Lol.

Had a question on side marker lights but got it worked out. Could not find how to remove it. Sorry!

Thanks for the reply. I'll stick to the current size.

The lift or electronic rod, while not being a true "lift" absolutely DOES help off-road by the same token you point out it helping on road. It creates that much more clearance in the wheel well before rubbing happens. Of course there is a limit but it helps...to say otherwise is to say that Access Height is as good as Off-road height while on the trail. It's folly.

Fair enough. I guess my point was that over time, you’re still going to find you’re rubbing in the same places... with or without lift. Lift won’t prevent the issues.

Good to know about the 285/65s. I thought I remembered somebody on Expo Portal running into much more substantial issues when going larger than the 275/65s.

I don’t have rear ac so I cannot speak to that causing issues

I do know that 33x12.50 will give you clearance issues on the control arms and frame horns. That however is well beyond the sizes in this discussion.
