Default Hitch rebuild problem

Good day,

Just picked up a 2006 RRS the other day and it came with a factory hitch. This said the whole mechanism was seized and had to take it apart completely and also replace the green handle.

Anyhow I am not sure I have it re-assembled correctly as I cant get the handle back to its resting locked position when I install the hitch on the car. Can someone compare the pictures of my hitch to theirs and maybe take a measurement and tell me how far their locking pin sticks out. I suspect mine erects too far and needs to be adjusted inwards in order to fully engage

and lock with the chassis

Length of the pin when engaged looks correct to me, but (and I don't know if this matters at all) it looks like you're missing the little ball bearing thingy in the top of the pin.

yes I am missing the ball spring... not sure that it really matters. Maybe if someone has their hitch installed they can tell me if the spigot goes all the way through the frame hole an sticks out or if it flush with the surface.

It appears to me that you have the newer style hitch compared to mine. Yours seems to extend about 1/32" compared to mine. Have you checked for corrosion within the vehicle itself? I use mine weekly for towing, but I remove it when not in use. Your photos of the hitch don't look good compared to mine, but I remove mine when not in use.
