How do you tell if you have a locking differential?

I dont see the answer nor do i see the question. Maybe its implied in one of the terms written if it is then its pretty obvious i dont know the term. Any help appreciated. Thx.

If you have an open diff, you do not have locking. Only locking diffs are electronic.

I’m in the opposite boat - my 2008 LR3 came with a locking diff, but at some point a previous owner replaced it with an open diff - presumably due to the cost difference. Now I have a permanent code that shows up for the transfer case that says something about missing or wrong equipment. I am on the hunt for a locking rear diff. I only need 1 kidney, right?

Can an LR3 SE with no screen have a rear locking diff?

Looking at some rigs from a distance and using vindecoderz has been pretty reliable, but I came across a strange combo today that is a 2006 SE with no screen, but it shows on vindecoders as locking diff - is that combo possible?
