I want your off-roading flat tire story!
I’ve finally made the decision to put off road tires on the rover, but like many others I’m stuck between XL and E load rated tires.
I’ve done hours of research and know the pros and cons to both and want some info only you guys can provide that can’t be google searched.
Question:
I know there are many different factors that contribute, but generally speaking I would like to know who has ran XL rated off road tires and suffered from a puncture/flat and wished they ran a E load rated tire?

I gashed a sidewall on a Yokohama Geolandar GO15. It's XL rated. I wouldn't call it an off-road tire but they call it an AT. The 19" rims didn't help. The trail was really tame which is why I felt okay being out there with the Rover on those tires. I ended up changing the tire in a damn monsoon. Not my favorite experience.
My other LR3, the one that's more built for wheelin'...has worn E rated tires when off-road for the past 15 years...never an issue, and they've been tested.
I'm sure others will chime in.

On my P38 I cut the sidewall on one of my 16 inch BFG K02 and I believe they are E rated so no guarantees with an E rating. You will likely get a flat at some point no matter what you mount. Make sure you have a jack that will lift the car high enough.
Thanks for the info, are you running E or XL load range tires?
Falken Wildpeak AT3W , 265/65/18 114 load index.

I got my first flat a few weeks ago
Falken Wildpeak AT3W, 265/60r18 XL 114T
But it wasn't off-roading, it was on the street - must have run over something I didn't see - sidewall
My tires have over 60k miles, and are about 7 yrs old - with tread left
They are definitely aging out, showing some cracking and chipping
Def time to replace. SoCal sun is not nice to tires.
Thinking of upsizing to Cooper Discover Rugged Trek, 265/65r18 XL 116T
XL has been good to me, even when towing - I don't need the extra weight or potential rough ride of an E.
