Default instrument cluster shuts down intermittently

Hi everyone,

I’ve been driving a 2009 LR3 HSE since my aunt gave me this vehicle in 2025.

For about a year, I was very happy driving this awesome car, but recently I started having some strange electrical problems.

These are the symptoms:
  1. The engine oil warning light comes on and then goes off intermittently.
  2. Sometimes the entire instrument panel/cluster shuts down while driving, but the engine keeps running and there are no warning or something, Radio is good.
  3. When this happens, the turn signals and hazard lights also stop working. Also, I hear a strange distorted chime/beeping noise, almost as if the speaker is crackling or the system is not getting enough power.
What I have checked so far:
  • The oil pressure has been checked, and it seems fine.
  • I pulled out Insturment panel and re-soldered the power-related connections on the board.
At this point, I am trying to figure out whether this is more likely related to:
  • a bad ground/earth connection
  • an instrument cluster connector
  • the cluster itself
  • CAN bus / wiring issues
  • or something else common on the LR3
Has anyone had the same symptoms before?
If so, what was the actual cause and how did you fix it?

Here is my symptoms video.

Any advice on the most likely things to inspect first would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
