instrument cluster shuts down intermittently
Hi everyone,
Ive been driving a 2009 LR3 HSE since my aunt gave me this vehicle in 2025.
For about a year, I was very happy driving this awesome car, but recently I started having some strange electrical problems.
These are the symptoms:
If so, what was the actual cause and how did you fix it?
Here is my symptoms video.

Any advice on the most likely things to inspect first would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

For about a year, I was very happy driving this awesome car, but recently I started having some strange electrical problems.
These are the symptoms:
- The engine oil warning light comes on and then goes off intermittently.
- Sometimes the entire instrument panel/cluster shuts down while driving, but the engine keeps running and there are no warning or something, Radio is good.
- When this happens, the turn signals and hazard lights also stop working. Also, I hear a strange distorted chime/beeping noise, almost as if the speaker is crackling or the system is not getting enough power.
- The oil pressure has been checked, and it seems fine.
- I pulled out Insturment panel and re-soldered the power-related connections on the board.
- a bad ground/earth connection
- an instrument cluster connector
- the cluster itself
- CAN bus / wiring issues
- or something else common on the LR3
If so, what was the actual cause and how did you fix it?

So your flasher do come on when the symptom happens? You can look outside your drivers window and see if the side marker is flashing. Does the climate control go out? If those are happening it is weird that the radio doesn't say system shutdown and go out.
could still be one of the chips on the cluster board that needs refloating.
have you checked your grounds and battery. Weak battery can cause all kinds of problems on these beasts.
