Just changed the oil in the LR3! 4.0
So changed the oil in the LR3 today!
Easy, it required 6 quarts of Castrol 5-30. Got a deal on it a Schucks, Checkers or whatever its named around you. $3 a quart.
Got a WIX filter at NAPA because its the only filter I trust, Fram and Quakerstate and others are pretty crappy filters, wont use em even of they are free.
Took out my trusty plastic ramps and got the front end up on em.
13mm socket to take off the 10-12 bolts for the skid plate, all self explanatory and easily removed and replaced by 1 person. If you have any rocks chillin in the skid plate clean it off as they could get in the way when tightening down the bolts after the oil change.
The oil pan plug was a 13mm too, very nice
The oil pan did leak down on the A arm a bit so if you have a pretty garage and want to keep spot free it might be good to toss down some card board.
Oil filter is mounted vertically and came off relatively easy, had to get my arm in there for some leverage but off she came. It did leak a bit when it came loose onto the A arm and frame so have that cardboard placed before hand.
Tossed on the new WIX filter (after pouring 1/3 quart into the filter to reduce dry start), poured in 6 quarts of Castrol GTX, placed the skid plate up hand tightening all bolts before getten em tight with the socket wrench.
DONE!
