Talking Kansas City Pre-Purchase

Hi all! I'm in the market for an LR3 and found a few that I'm doing research on. There's one in Kansas City and I'd love some advice on a few things:

1. Anyone know a good mechanic in Kansas City, Missouri (near the 49) that I can call to organize a pre-purchase inspection?
2. Anyone know how I can get an optional package spec on this LR3?
3. I learned of a few outstanding to-do's (control arms, sway bars, etc.) about this truck, but a strange one is that the retractable roof shades don't retract (?) and there's a crack on the dash. No accidents reported tho, which is odd. Is that a sign of some bigger problem perhaps?

Thanks for your help on this, I'm excited about this baby but I want to make sure I'm not buying a problem child.

Ben

1) can’t help you here, I’ve never been to Missouri.
2) not sure what you mean by optional package spec
3) the cracked dash is extremely common. The sun shade probably just has a broken or dislodged wonder spring. You’ll need to remove the headline to gain access. Never had to replace mine, so I can’t speak in depth about it.

to summarize: my reply to your post is basically useless

LOL thanks Lenzda! What I mean by optional package is the build spec of the truck. There are some things like 3rd row seats, heavy duty package, adaptive headlights, etc. that are optional add-on's on SE and/or HSE models.
Most important for me is to Find a good LR mechanic that can do a full pre-purchase inspection.

You should be able to get the VIN number from the seller. There are a bunch of vin decoder websites that will decipher the VIN and tell you all the options the vehicle has or doesn’t have.

Also, maybe just call the nearest dealership Parts Department, tell them the VIN and ask them if they can provide that info. There is no real reason why they shouldn't do that for you.
