Default Key FOB

My 2006 LR3 came with 2 keys and now one of them stopped working. When I press the button to unlock it doesn't work. The other key works fine. Does the key have a battery that needs to be replaced? I have never had a "clicker" as I call it stop working.

The battery in the keys charges when it is in the ignition switch so you don't have to replace the battery. You might want to try using the dead one and see if it recharge. If it still does not work you can try re programming it.

It sounds a little funny, but take the inoperative key and smack on a counter once or twice. If it starts working again, then the circuit board is to blame and you will want to get a new key. I have done this with keys under warranty(replaced the key with a new one when this was found to be the case). I would try using that key in the ignition as previously stated first.

this usually happens when a key is a spare and is not used often. on your steering column the coil in the ignition switch makes a magnetic field that charges the battery in the key fob. so yes use the key and see if it fixes it scott
