Default Key fob not working

Replaced the battery on my key fob (02 disco) and not it will not work. I tried to reset but locking/unlocking the door 3 times, but still does not work.

What is the next step? From what i understand a dealer cannot program a key without it having a sku. I bought a new blank key fob and just swapped the internal- I really don't want to buy a new one from the dealer for $169+ programming.

Thanks in advance!

Yes it worked before the battery died.

I've had the same issue and have tried every possible trick in the book (that I have found online) to no avail. I've given up and don't have a dealership anywhere near me! Unfortunately you are out of luck unless you can find someone with a Hawkeye tool or similar to re-program, otherwise, the dealership will need to do it. There's a thread somewhere about converting the code on the internals to the sku, search for it.

dtm325-

Since we can't tell from your profile, where are you located? There may be someone near you with a Hawkeye or Nanocom who is willing to assist with testing and programming the BCU to work with your key remote. Also, when you press a key remote button, do you see the small LED on the key illuminate?

I'm in State College, PA.

Yes the LED works, I replaced the battery and swapped it over to a new key fob shell.

I just checked this thread and I didn't see anyone in PA with the capability of helping out. Sorry, it sounds like you'll need to find a Land Rover specialist or go to a dealer.

IF you order new key/fob be aware the blank is steel. Not all locksmiths will work on these. New fobs come with a bar code. If you don't have it, follow the thread below. I paid about 140 for LR key/fob.

Definitive answer on Key Fob Reprogramming

The top link is a spreadsheet found in second link that allows you to take the inner key code (6 digit alphanumeric) and converts to the bar code. I purchased a new fob/key from BP of Utah and used the inner code to confirm the spreadsheet bar code. Perfect match. From the thread you'll see that Hawkeye can program from bar code, ditto with Advanced Diagnostics machine. Nanocom uses the inner key code.

I took the first link out as it doesn't work anymore and for some reason can't attach the spread sheet I saved that coverts the key code to bar code. Send me a PM with your email and I'll attempt to send.
