Default Leak, can anyone identify the part?

I have a small leak, I thought it was oil at first but upon further inspection I found it was something else, but I am not sure exactly what it is. So can anyone tell me why there is fluid leaking from this joint? on the picture the leak is from the dark spot, it is located next to the drivers side front wheel...

Thanks

A couple thoughts come to mind:

1. Check your stub axle boot. If it ruptured the oil inside splatters everywhere and makes a mess. It's in that area, so depending on the size of the rupture, the mess could be more contained.

2. If your vehicle has been serviced recently, they may have lubed the (control arm and other) bushings and some lubricant may have splattered.

That's all I've got...

I can't tell exactly, but perhaps the filler for the front diff? It's above the dark area I can see on the skid plate, behind/forward of the control arm mount. Of course, that would be oil, just not engine oil.

The idea of a torn CV boot as already mentioned is a possibility as well. Though that tends to really get flung around due to rotation. That would be a grease, so thicker than either engine or diff oil.

At least I'm guessing that is the leak area. Hard to be sure. If I'm wrong, you might want to circle the leak area in the pic to make it more obvious.

I can't exactly see which area you're talking about but IF you mean where the control arm meets the frame @ that large bolt it might be the actual rubber bushing itself. The control arm bushings AFAIK were oil-filled (small amount of oil), so when they burst, they're done. Not sure if this is still the case on newer vehicles.

If not, then check your diff, then oil pan drain plug.

I know my '07 had oil-filled bushings.
