Looking at a 2006 Land Rover with Transmission Problem
So I was looking into trading one of my non running cars with a 2006 Land Rover. Everything on the car appears to work fine, and it also runs perfectly fine. But when it gets warm, it starts shifting erratically and slipping. I don't know a huge amount about Land Rovers so learning as I go. Is this a common problem? Any help is appreciated, thank you.

The previous owner of my 2008 L322 had the transmission replaced with a rebuilt unit. $5000 for the tranny and $3000 for labour. These are Canadian dollars but still pretty expensive in US dollars. Personally I wouldn't buy it without first scanning the Trans with GAP or equivalent. The tranny is the same 6 speed as LR3.

No you don't, valve body replacement only requires the oil pan to be removed.

Okay, thanks for the replies everyone. I traded a old 944 I had that needs a lot of work, I'm quite happy with my trade so far because it appears to be leaking slightly on the back of the valve body, so at least I can visually see a problem here. I think I'm definitely on the right track and hopefully I got lucky. Like I said, not much experience with these but they're super cool so far. I'll keep you guys updated on my progress.
