Default Low beam wires

I went to install a new low beam lamp on my LR3 & found the 2 wires (grey & an orange) was missing the small plastic separator that hold the 2 wires which attach to the new lamp. So, does it matter which wire goes onto the lamp? I'm thinking it does not but the expert here I am not. See photos. Thanks for the advice.

LR3 Low Beam Lamp Holder. Does it matter which wire is attached the lamp terminals?

Default Not sure

What does the other side look like? The wire diagram page 159 Section 417 " Exterior Lighting" shows a Blue with Orange strip wire that goes to the "dipped beam" on the right side and a Blue with a Grey strip on the left side. Both have a black wire going to ground. That does not match your photo, so I am not sure what you have.
I see a little burning on the orange wire, I wonder what was going on, and it may explain why the plastic is gone. What type of bulb is in the other side?

Not much help with what you have provided so far.

Can you trace the wire back the main connector in the back of the headlight case and see which pin they are? that may help see if it is correct or not (regardless of the color)

Hi Jeff, didn't have my thinking cap on this. Yes, that wire looks burnt. But the plastic electrical connector is missing. No small pieces inside the componet. Previous owner probably just pushed the wires onto the tabs of the lamp w/o that insulator there. Went to Atlantic British & Rovers North, they didn't show that part but you know what? I found it (Google Search) at Walmart! $33 bucks, free delivery. I don't go to Walmart but I was surprised big time. I believe that "burnt" wire has been like that for a looong time. Thanks! Paul. ps: LR doesn't make it easy to change those lamps! as does any vehicle these days I'd say.

halloween rover:
id you decide which way to wire it? One of the nice things about this forum is it should last as long as the internet says alive, so posting a result is helpful to someone new (even if it is 5 years from now).

As for difficult? I have a friend that had a 2008 Cadillac CTS and you hade to remove the front bumper façade to change the headlight bulbs, so the Rover ain't THAT bad I suppose.

Glad you solved it.

Jeff, I did get the part but I'll have to soldier it to the existing wires because I cannot pull the 2 wires out & replace them w/new wires. Now, my question. Does it matter which wire I can attach them to? The original wires are grey & orange. The new connector I got the wires are black & blue. I don't think it matters but I could be wrong. Thanks for your help. Paul

Default I think you are fine

The 2007 Rover in the family with Halogen headlights is not here with me, (my son drives it). I can't just go out and pull a headlight and look for you. IF neither of the spade connectors are connected to the mounting ring (case), then it does not matter. BUT, if one of them IS connected to the mounting ring (case) then that one should be the grey wire. From all of the photos I see about the H7 they are isolated connector and it should not matter.

Hope this helps
Jeff
