lower control arm bushings?
Thanks for sharing.
I've debated doing this job myself. I have the tools but just dont want to get caught with my pants down so to speak if I cant get it accomplished half way through. I still cannot find anything related to DIY on breaking away the ball joints. Thats the one thing I have never dealt with.
Do you happen to have a link because I've looked and cant find it from them on that topic. They have a ton of videos for the LR3.
I just spent 20 mins and now I can't find it either. I watched it after first seeing his "Three Main Problems" video.
After watching it, I thought to myself that it was fairly easy to do.
Maybe email him on his site and ask what happened to it.
I must have been hallucinating!
I know I saw a you tube video on the control arms some where. I was looking up so many sites and info prior to our purchase I was getting burned out from LR3 information overload. Sorry for the confusion.
Airdrie is not the tropics - it was about maybe 3 inches of snow fell last night - we got about that up here this morning, and with the wind, it was a foot in places.
Somehow I expect your garage floor will seem a bit like outside but maybe without the white stuff.
I assume you have a second vehicle and about a week with the 3 on frame jacks while you wait for more bolts etc plus run around for more tools - delicate tools like hammers and electric hack saws; also a good supply of bandages and rags to sop up the red stuff.
I think your time might be better spent figuring out how the electrical systems work, the fibre optics, the CAN BUS systems, (the three of them) - you know the stuff no one can figure out, and if you want your 3 to go, you have to sort it yourself - that is where I put my efforts.
Changing the arms out when the 3 is sitting on a hydraulic hoist at about waist height is a lot easier than when you are laying down looking up.
You can take it yourself for an alignment, but make certain the shop has done 4 wheel alignments previously and preferable on Land Rovers; as to the arms, you might gather I pay someone.

Other than the control arms and four set of bolts/nuts you don't need anything else... Well yes, you need tools including a power saw to cut the bolts. They are pretty soft and go out in a couple of minutes if you are using new blades.
Perfectly doable in your garage in my opinion.
I am no mechanic but just the average handy guy. I do IT in my real job.
