Default LR3 4.4 Lifter replacement - anybody tackled this before?

My 06 LR3 is starting to develop lifter ticking intermittently after an oil change. I suspect one of them has collapsed or is clogged. I'm starting to consider the possibility of replacing them. Has anybody done this and have any sage wisdom to share?

I'm at 330,000 miles and it's becoming more of a mission to see how long I can keep it going at this point.

I dont get how one could collapse, there is nothing to collapse much less clog. Have you tightened your exhaust manifold bolts? They love to loosen up and when they do it is often mistaken for valvetrain noise.

Congrats on your high mileage! That’s impressive and encouraging.

While close with my VVT gear/timing job, I never gave much thought to the lifters. Should you decide to tackle the job, please share the wisdom here.

Thanks! I did see your post on that project. Thanks for putting that together. That's definitely going to be my guide whenever I do decide to dig in. I was secretly hoping there was something I was missing that would make a lifter swap a quick and easy job but no such luck so I'll probably try to get a bunch of things accomplished in addition to lifters while I'm in there.

Not exactly on topic but what is your oil consumption like at 330K?
I'm at 193K and my oil consumption is negilible, amazing but my experience is with American engines which seem to burn oil at the rate of a quart every 2-3K on a good day.

Almost none. I have a very slight amount that seeps out around the valve covers but its always right at the top of the dipstick. I do oil changes every 5k miles with Mobil 1
