No, that ability is not possible because the vehicle itself lacks the proper software. Here is the thing however, the MOST network that is found on vehicle equip opens a lot of options really. Combined with a GAP tool I can only wonder if its possible by swapping key components, such as a head unit from an LR that can stream music. I just have not looked into it.
ljdiscovery: Bluetooth Exchange
The person that runs that page is "wiggs" form the UK Disco3 board: https://www.disco3.co.uk
He is really helpful in modifying Rovers and working with GAP to get software customized to make stuff work in the LR3.
I need a GAP tool in order to look into this further. I hope that with a couple 2012+ component swaps and an iPod interface that it can be done. People simply put a bluetooth adapter on the iPhone cable end. So that gives one bluetooth connectivity with steering controls, etc. That may actually even work with any phone also since the bluetooth adapter is probably generic. Thus my long term plan is to get an updated head unit and an iPhone/iPod interface module. Then somehow splice it into the MOST loop. I will talk to GAP and see how far the CFF file can be altered and see if its even a go in the first place. But thats another project.
Oh, I will add that if you have a GAP tool you can probably upgrade the bluetooth module software to take car of the connectivity issues and other oddities. But I am not sure cause Wiggs has a laptop with Rover software so he can do a lot more.
I have the gap tool. So if the new module doesn't add music I'll flash the update but no to worried about it. With the logic 7 from what I have read I am slightly screwed on options
Contact GAP and see what they can send you, let me know too cause I am curious. Once you update you will not have better call quality or the advanced phonebook options but it will at least pair. As for the Logic 7, that is what I have and it uses MOST for all the audio data. So while it may limit options to other MOST devices, I think something can be done. I just am not sure how bluetooth audio is handled on vehicles that can use it so that is why I am also looking into the iPod module, with a bluetooth aftermarket adapter on the cable end. Might be a run around solution. The issue is getting the LR3 head unit to have a second "aux" input source or such. So I am wondering if a different LR head unit would work, one that is configured for iPod audio. So far I dont think there is one that would fit. I dont think Freedlanders had iPod integration as an option but the head units may fit. What is weird is how the CD changer and radio fit together but are separate parts, each with its own MOST connection. Unlike the LR3 radio that has it all integrated.
What about adding one of these decoder boards to the aux input, i have a portable speaker that has one of these fitted that has FM/BT/MP3/SD card and it works well for $20.
Currently I am using the Amazon Echo Auto and the call quality and streaming audio is pretty solid so until there is a real solution that will get the job done.
For anyone swapping to the LR4 module you will probably need a proper mounting bracket since the LR3 module is rather different. The part number needs is FHC500390 with an older part number of FHC500300.
I picked up mine from Merriam Parts for $24 shipped (the part was only $8 USD, shipping $16).
