LR3 Compressor Replacement
I'm having problems with my AC not working in my 2005 LR3... I have power going to my compressor but the compressor clutch isn't engaging... im assuming i have constant power and the ground is the the switched source. I took the connector off and supplied a 12v positive as well as a ground and compressor clutch still wouldn't engage and blow cold air.... what could i be over looking or does it sound like i need to replace the compressor?
I just went through the process of replacing my ac compressor and learned a lot from this site and others along the way. Keep in mind the Denso compressor doesn't have an on/off clutch like others - instead it's a variable clutch and is always engaged at some level so you can't effectively "jump" it into the "on" position.
Do you have a set of AC gauges? If so what are the pressures on the high side and low side with the engine off, on and with the climate controls set for cooling? That will tell you where to look, if you just need a charge, etc.
In my case I had I catastrophic failure of the compressor which resulted in the loss of all refrigerant.
Another member here pointed me to an OEM replacement from Amazon.com for about $340. I DIY'ds it but it was an absolute PITA to replace the compressor and the drier/accumulator.
