Default LR3 and a few errors...

So got my GAP IID tool and after spending ten or so minutes trying to plug it into the vent under the steering wheel, got it up and running with the following error codes returned. Truck as far as I’m aware and can see is stock. Tires are Cooper Zeon LTZ.

Battery with ignition on but engine not running is 11.7V. With the engine running it’s 13.4/13.5V.

I’ve also had an EAS amber warning when the height was adjusted, saying normal height only, but this disappears when engine shuts off and only returns when you dabble with the height settings. although hasn’t returned for two days (no doubt will again).

I’d like to try and do some of the maintenance myself and I’m guessing the big thing to start with is the EAS and any issues with this. I’ve seen it’s worth replacing the relay to see if that does anything so starting with that before moving into other areas.

TPMS doesn’t concern me, but are these a simple fix? I like things to work the way they are intended!

Ventilation seems to make a funny noise when changing speeds or shutting off the system. Like a Whir of a component that’s seen better days but it seems to work in all parts.

Also had a lot of messages stating Firmware updates available. How and where can I get access to these or is it only via a dealer?

Super happy with the truck and the GAP tool purchase. Trying to find somewhere to cut a couple of fobs and then will be programming a couple of spare keys and hopefully get on top of some of these codes that are throwing back. Looking forward to owning this truck for many years to come.

Any suggestions greatly welcomed.

For the key - did you try your local Ford dealer?
They successfully cut my eBay key (for free!), which I then programmed with my IIDtool

PS - I have (had) some similar errors on mine, this is what I did (and haven't done yet):

1. TPMS: My sensors were dead, so I removed/disabled with IIDtool (when I swapped to 18"s and oversized tires) - I check pressure manually
2. Various stepper motor actuators - have not tackled, interior is still comfortable even though I can feel uneven heat/cool from vents sometimes - your noises might be dead/dying/stuck stepper motors/flaps
3. Battery - probably get a new one soon. I went with H8 Duracel AGM from Sam's (best price I could find) after my H8 Interstate died w/in 2 yrs (which was already a free replacement LOL) - I will also be using my new tender monthly (at minimum) to help longevity

If/when you replace the battery, you could try a hard reset (write-up is here somewhere) and see if that jogs anything

IIDtool should be able to supply updated firmwares? Might reach out to them. They are super helpful

Thanks for the reply, Doug. I'll definitely look into some of this. I'm a bit of a perfectionist so probably going to do everything to clear this errors.

There doesn't seem to be any issue with heat distribution at this moment but the motor does sound like it probably needs at least a good dose of WD40.

I'll keep you posted as to how everything progresses, but did 60 miles today, no issues, warnings, problems with heat. Only thing really worrying me is the suspension. Raised/lowered fine today but noticed it was back first and not the car raising evenly.

Hmmm . . .

Uneven raising could be a leaky front EAS valve block
Some replace (about $150) some rebuild (o-ring kit about $30) . . .

Thrifty me just opened/cleaned/light lubed/reassembled (nothing torn/damaged - just powder/grit causing leaks)

I recommend rebuilding your compressor o-rings/springs ($35) if you haven't, and refreshing the desiccant ($15 amazon) FIRST.
I also replaced my leaky dryer cap (holds desiccant) with a metal version ($35)

Then wait a bit before doing valve blocks - as any powder from old desiccant could still be migrating toward blocks
Some say to blow the lines out if you can/have patience to - at least just to the block you are working on (already mostly disconnected)

Its very DIY but finicky work - keep a soapy water spray nearby to check leaks
I rebuilt my front 20k ago, and its just starting to dip again - did my rear 10k ago, holding strong still

Who knows, may help that error - but is definitely recommended maintenance regardless
Good luck!

Super helpful, Doug. Thanks for this. Not sure I'm comfortable doing my own rebuild just yet so I may look at replacing them, then rebuilding the others as spares. My current garage doesn't allow much room for manoeuvre so mindful of this as well. This should change as we are moving out of the city soon.

Definitely going to focus on the EAS first and go from there.
