LR3 leaking bad from the front. Can't quite tell where from
Greetings, I could really use some help diagnosing where this leak is coming from and any possible solutions. Pretty sure it's coolant. Maybe water pump failure? I recently re-routed the rear air coolant lines in the rear passenger wheel well to accommodate larger tires. I suspect this has something to do with my newly discovered issue. I thought I sufficiently bled the system after, but maybe too much air in the system popped a seal or hose Seems to be dripping pretty good from the bottom of this. hard to tell. there is fluid everywhere
or something? I'm a novice. Thanks in advance.
I see coolant dripping onto the TOP of the water pump. I think it is safe to safe it is the plastic thermostat housing that has failed right? I don't see any other hoses or fittings that seem to be the culprit.
Replaced the thermostat manifold and water pump. No more leaks! That I can tell. That's a win for me. Now however, the dash is FULL of faults... Transmission, HDC, Parking brake, low coolant. I tried to clear any error through my cheap OBDII scan tool and disconnected the negative battery terminal for a couple minutes but the faults remain. I have good volts at the battery. Any other suggestions?
As mollusc said, go to the LR3 tech forum, where the LR3 people check.
As for the dash warnings-if you have the correct coolant level in the tank, ignore the low collant message. The float in the tank gets waterlogged and there's no fixing it except to replace the tank with a new one.
As for the other faults, these will all appear if you start the LR3 on a low battery. It's not just voltage, it's the current available. If your battery won't supply at least 10.5 to 11 volts when starting the modules don't initialize properly....so having 12 volts on a resting battery is not enough. Charge the battery, check your terminals and try again.
I know my battery is on the weak side so I use a battery tender at night, if I don't it's prone to EPB errors. I also found that the original postive terminal was not making a good connection so I replaced it, the negative isn't all that much better.but is good enough for now. We will see how it works once it gets cold.
One more item to check is the plastic T at the top of the cooling system. I had one crack and weep, and when I touched it the little bugger exploded. I replaced it with a Home Depot brass barb.
