Default LR3 Nasty No Start

I have withheld posting for nearly 3 weeks as I was certain that I would fix the issue. I have a 2006 LR3 V8 4.4L with 106K miles.
Vehicle died going up a brief incline ('incline' would not wind you if you were on a bicycle)
I put the vehicle in park. Attempted to restart it. It "cranked" but did not sound right.
Long story short:

Would crank after turning key and continue without being held until it stopped itself. It is not getting a spark.

Battery tested at Advanced Auto and they said it was good.

Starter was good but replaced anyway.

Dropped fuel tank tested pump and it works.

Relays for fuel pump and Starter motor are good.

replaced plugs simply because it was due.

I removed crankshaft position sensor...looked ok? tested for resistance and it was neither open nor closed which seems to indicate it is good.

I have read reports that ignition capacitor and crankshaft position sensor (CKP) could create no start. I called local land rover dealership, parts guy has never ordered (and had no clue about) ignition capacitor and said he had not ordered a CKP since 2012. That threw me a bit.

Pulled a plug smelled more oil than gas.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

I know it may seem simple, but have you cleaned out the throttle body? When I first got my LR3, it would not start some mornings, or stumble and really struggle to keep running. I cleaned all the crud out of the throttle body and it starts right up every time now.

You say the pump works, do you have fuel pressure? How much gas in tank? Ours used to die between 1/2 and 1/4 tank, bad pickup and on an incline made it die faster
