Cool LR3 Suspension Lift Kit from Toddco and other upgrades

Hello everyone,

I purchased my LR3 last year, and until last week i did some upgrades. Upgrades are minimal, like the tires, new brakes and lift kit from Toddco.

Tires installed are goodrich bfg ta ko 275/65r18. I installed them without installing the lift kit from Toddco. I heard from everyone that it will rub, and it did. It rubbed from the back tires on normal high when turning and getting in a dip. If i were to lower the car, it will for sure rub even more. The from tires barely fit as the tire will rub with the whole surface on a metal part (didnt check what part it was) but i knew that i needed to get the lift kit.

I ordered new brakes for my 2008 from ebay! Callahan Drilled Slotted SPORT Brake Rotors + Quiet Ceramic Pads for around $300 bucks (brake sensor included. I cant tell you how easy it was to change the brakes on the car. I really dont do car work on my cars, but i didnt want to pay premium to anyone else to install them. After watching a video on youtube, i realized how easy it was to do them.

I tried looking for some videos on how to install the Lift Kit from Toddco on how to install them or how do they work. The toddco lift kit website doesnt have crap. So i kinda figure it out by my self. The front are small and the back are large. I compared them side by side and noticed that the toddco lift kit parts extended are the exact same size as the stock. So i thought, well i am sure they did it like that for a reason. So i made the toddco lift kit the smallest possible and thought that the computer on the car will think.....The car is to low, i need to lift it. (I set my car on normal height before doing any work).

After breaks installed, and tires back on. Turned on the car and noticed and the suspension was blank by the height selecting and then the lowest was selected, then i hit normal height and the car we up higher. I was so happy that it worked as i expected since i never seen anyone else do this.

THE CONs........?

The air compressor was just replaced by the dealer under extended warranty, and working perfectly. I am not sure that after messing around with the Lift Kit the compressor seems to be working extra hard and longer (which it never did before)

Has any one had a similar issue after messing around with the lift kits?

Hope that this info can help anyone else out there trying to do this type of work in your car.

If you can find that You Tube video re brake rotor replacement, it would be nice if you could post the link. I think we could all benefit from seeing it.

I regard new pads and rotors, particularly the rear units, as not very easy.

Does the Toddco liftkit ONLY involve new rods? No spacers...???

Hey BBYER,

Here is the link for the youtube video for changing brakes for an LR3

I should add that my LR3 2008 only had 2 break sensors (front drivers side, and back passenger side). I have never changed them before, and never seen them before, but i was able to change them with ease.

For my car, it was super easy to change the brakes. I cant speak for all of the models.

Hey houm_wa,

Ive read that you dont need spacers to install the toddco lift kit.

Attached you will see 2 pics of the lift rods. I could not believe that the OEM were and look so cheap. The ones you purchase from any one else would be so much better, (but it doesnt matter because they dont carry any load).

As you can see on the replaced ones, i made them the smallest so that i can get the most height. I will be testing them with the maximus height and see how that goes, i can always make them larger to get less lift.

Becareful when changing them, as the bottom part holding the rod is plastic. Try not to move it back and forth as you can break it. Just hold it with your hand, while using a flat screw driver to get the part out.

Yeah...I've run a variant of the rod-mod lift before in the past. I was just curious about the use of spacers. Thanks.
