Default LR3 transfer case plugs?

I'm about to do a transfer case fluid change on my 2005 LR3. I just bought it about 3 weeks ago and I don't believe it's ever been changed. It has 113,000 miles on it.

My question about the transfer case is do I need to purchase two new drain plugs and sealing washers or does the LR3 not have them. If it does are they reusable? I'm planning on using Royal Purple Syncromax in it.

I've already serviced the front diff and it was fine but when I did the rear diff it was like chocolate milk but with very little metal on the magnetic plug. So I'm probably on my way to a new rear differential soon, as it has a slight whine. It did not quite down after the change to Royal Purple 75w90. I noticed the rear differential has the hexagonal plugs so I had to run out and buy 8mm and 14mm drive sockets. I think that means these diff are some of the earlier production ones before they switched.

I believe (and hopefully somebody else can confirm) that the transfer case plug comes with a rubber o-ring on it to seal. So, I think if you purchase a new plug (which you should do... I think they are plastic), then it will come with a washer/o-ring.

I haven't bought a Oil Plug for transfer case, diff, engine in the last few changes, no leaks so far. You should be fine.

Thanks. I just changed the oil out with no problems. The oil that drained was 1.5 qts and dark.....almost black. It was probably the original oil and had 115,000 miles on it. Refilled with 1.5 qts of LR OEM transfer case oil. My dealer sells them for $23 qt.

I'm running Royal Purple... as long as you're changing it, that's an awesome preventative. Don't forget diffs, transmission.
