Fronts hardly ever fail, the rears always do.

look at the rubber donut on the carrier bearing to be ripped or grease that has been flung out from the front cv.

So tonight I crawled underneath and examined the Carrier. The rubber looks good but you can move the driveshaft up and down and side to side. Is that bad or normal?

Also, jacked up the back and both tires are firm side to side and top and bottom. Does that eliminate the rear hubs?

What should I check next?

Rear hubs are eliminated.

to see the rubber you really should remove the heat shield that covers the driveshaft.

there should be some play, but only what force you exert on the intact donut. I would check again with heat shield off and use a flashlight.

if it’s good, I’m saying diff.

So today I crawled underneath her and changed out the transfer case fluid because I've never done it and couldn't tell you the last time it was done .

The fluid that came out looked like pale strawberry milk. I'm guessing water has been in there. I drained it all out completely and even flushed it a little with new fluid.

Filled her up to spec but the problem is still there. Does the transfer case come into play while turning? Is mine toast?

I believe there is a locker or motor on the transfer case. Could that be messed up and always locking it so when I turn it is locked?

Your symptoms do not sound like T case.

Cant remember, did you check the rear diff fluid?

Hey,

That's a bummer. I was hoping it had something to do with the water in T-case.

The rear diff fluid was changed about a 1000 miles ago. It was dark and there was some sludge on the plug but really no metal shavings or chunks.

Most likely the sludge on the plug was metal shavings.

Does anyone know if it is possible to drive the lr3 without the front drive shaft? I'm trying to see if I can narrow down where the issue is coming from.

Never heard of anyone trying it. It might work but I would be afraid to do it.
The center differential on the transfer case is electronic. It could simply fault out or it could burn itself up. It could also just drive along happy as can be.

You can’t.

Has anyone been able to explain why a front driveshaft or rear for that matter could be causing your symptoms?

I can’t find a correlation, but what do I know.
