Default LR3 updated axle nut

The axle nut was updated. Both in size and design. The older nut had a thin metal "crown" around the top that one punched into a groove within the axle end. But the new nut is a castle nut with integrated thick washer. One typically runs a cotter pin through a castle nut to secure it. Yet the updated OEM shaft has no hole to run one. Also no groove like the older version. I torqued to spec (if I recall, 260 ft/lbs) and I suspect things will be okay as there is no actual movement of the spine against the hub. But I was wondering if this is acceptable?

Pic of updated nut and axle end. Both are LR OEM parts.

note: I read if you purchase aftermarket shaft, they are the older design. But I recommend picking up both old and new nuts just incase.
