LR3 V6 Power
I am thinking of buying a new LR3 2008 model. We have the choice of either V6 or V8 option. The price difference is quite big so I am thinking of going for the V6. Is this an adequate engine. Also is the LR going for an all new shape any time soon.
There is only one reason to buy a V6... the savings on the price tag, which can be considerable. The V6 gets no better gas mileage ( I'm still trying to figure that one out ) but looses quite a bit of HP and Torque from it's V8 partner. The average owner should find that the V6 is sufficient in moving the LR3 around. However, for owners making the move to LR from the other power house SUV's out there like the BMW's or MB, may find the V6 under powered for such a heavy SUV.
About the new body style, LR is known precisely for keeping body styles around for longer than most car makers. The LR3 has been in production only since 2005 so I don't forsee, nor have I heard of any major body style changes coming anytime soon.

I was told by my New York LR dealer no v6 LR3 in 2008... so choice is easy. By the way, Im in a 2006 V6 and it meets my surburban needs fine - though my wife thinks it accelerates like a tank. It ain't a Cayenne, but it does the job. I heard v6 and v8 same gas mileage from a number of different sources - I would have thought the v8 was a heavier vehicle... strange.
I dont about the the V6 i have the V8, I had VW V6 tourag, and i found that it is slower, look at this way, the V6 will eat more gas due to the fact same weight body but less power so motor has to eat more to go faster.
I DROVE TE 6 AND 8 BACK TO BACK AND DID NOT NOTICE A DIFFERENCE BUT IT WAS 0-60 I WAS IN TOWN I AM STILL PERPLEXED ON THIS SO I JUST BOUGHT A 8 AD IT PASSES WELL AND AM HAPPY WITH IT MY FATHER WENT WITH ME AND HE COULDNT TELL A DIFFERENCE and we have driven some verry fast cars t-bird sc. mustang lx 5.0, 740i, rx7, corrado, mazda speed protege, mazda speed 6, a6 w/ v8, m3 i could keep going but i won't.
