Just wondering if anyone thinks it is possible to sell a 2005 LR3 with a blown head gasket. We don't want to put more money in it. We recently replaced both front wheel bearings, struts, tie rods, both front discs on brakes and one pad and one sensor. AC recently charged and windshield washer tank was repaired. Body and inside looks good. New tires last year. Around 155,000 miles. Love this car but we can't work on it.

Why don't you just replace the head gasket? 600$ and some of your time... What are you trying to sell it for? I probably wouldn't give you over 2.5K without knowing how much you've driven it with the blown gasket and how you came to know about the blown gasket/how many times it has overheated on you. Could be quite a few things wrong, depending on that info the engine could be toast.

Otherwise you might be better off selling it for parts individually, if for instance the driver seat and armrest are in good condition and your interior matched mine, I'd pay good money for that seat.

When the engine is not running this is a pretty hard sell, I bought mine (2007 LR3) for $1500 because the owner did not want to have it hanging around while he tried to part it out, and they had just replaced the front and rear control arms plus the air suspension compressor. I'd suggest you contact someone locally who has experience either repairing (to at least get it running) it or who can give you some advice about how to best part it out or sell it as is. This is a very tough call, best of luck to you...

Thanks. I appreciate all the input. The air quit working and the temp gauge started going up and I pulled over and we had it towed. This was the first time it showed temp going up. The engine continued to run. I just stopped. The shop replaced the coolant expansion tank because it was split. They filled and bled the cooling system. It spewed. Mechanics suspect blown head gasket. We had it towed back to our house but it runs. We just couldn't go the $4000.00 to repair. Someone that can work on it needs to own it.
